Born in New Caledonia and Vietnamese by origin, Charles Brecard has been living in Tio’tia:ke / Montreal since 2013, where he trained at L’École de danse contemporaine de Montréal (EDCM). As a performer, he collaborates with several companies such as AP&A, Lilith & Cie, Parts+Labour_Danse, Animals of Distinction, Grand Poney, DansEncorps, 14Lieux and Skeels Danse. His infinite curiosity led him to develop a personal practice called “FLUIDIFY”, influenced by urban, folkloric and contemporary dances and by his work as a sports massage therapist. He shares it with amateurs and professionals by intervening in festivals, through cultural mediation and within pedagogical courses, such as EDCM’s.
Aligning himself towards a creative path, he has developed a choreographic practice marked by great physicality and theatrical poetry. He has produced independent projects presented in Canada and Europe. His solo SOLILOQUY was awarded the prize for Best Performance. Recently, he co-founded Le Bercail, which aims to increase accessibility and community in dance, both for the public and artists.
