This position reports directly to the board of directors.<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate will embody Montr\u00e9al Danse\u2019s artistic vision and serve as its public face within the choreographic community in Montr\u00e9al, Quebec, and internationally. They will carry out their duties in close collaboration with the Administrative Director and Co-Executive Director, in a spirit of collegiality, transparency, and shared decision-making.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><b>Key Responsibilities<\/b><\/h3>\n<h5><b><br \/>\nArtistic Direction<\/b><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and embody an artistic vision consistent with Montr\u00e9al Danse\u2019s identity, in collaboration with the team and partner artists;<\/li>\n<li>Support choreographers through every stage of their creative process: research, creation, production, and presentation;<\/li>\n<li>Design the artistic program\u2014whether it involves new works, research labs, workshops, or performances\u2014in line with the company\u2019s mission and values.<\/li>\n<li>Continue and ensure the implementation of the \u201cDance Against Violence\u201d initiative;<\/li>\n<li>Represent Montr\u00e9al Danse within the dance community (premiere nights, audience meetings, professional events) and act as the company\u2019s artistic spokesperson.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Co-Executive Director<\/h5>\n<p>This area of responsibility is carried out in close collaboration with the Administrative Director and Co-Executive Director. Strategic directions, major decisions, and the allocation of responsibilities are determined through consultation.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strategy: Help define Montr\u00e9al Danse\u2019s strategic and budgetary directions; engage with artistic, institutional, and community partners;<\/li>\n<li>Fundraising: Participate in efforts to secure public and private funding, annual fundraising campaigns, and benefit events; actively contribute to the drafting of grant applications and reports for donors and distribution partners;<\/li>\n<li>Human Resources: Help define staff duties and compensation terms, in accordance with the pay equity policy and budgetary constraints;<\/li>\n<li>Partnership Development: Develop and maintain relationships with partner companies and artists; negotiate and oversee co-production and distribution agreements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Desired Qualifications<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Have an artistic practice recognized by peers in the contemporary dance community;<\/li>\n<li>Have significant experience managing a cultural organization or creative company and\/or recognized expertise in dramaturgy or rehearsal direction;<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate a solid understanding of governance practices and the ability to establish a constructive working relationship with a board of directors, while respecting each person\u2019s roles and responsibilities;<\/li>\n<li>Have an excellent knowledge of the dance scene in Montreal, Quebec, and Canada, as well as an understanding of distribution models;<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate the ability to balance artistic ambitions with budgetary realities;<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate inclusive leadership, intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and artistic sensitivity;<\/li>\n<li>Have a strong interest in the shared co-leadership model, based on trust and mutual support;<\/li>\n<li>Be guided by the values of equity, diversity, and inclusion, and help create a welcoming work and creative environment for everyone;<\/li>\n<li>Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills in French and English.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Terms of Employment<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Start date: <b>April 1, 2027<\/b>;<\/li>\n<li>Full-time permanent position under an indefinite-term contract;<\/li>\n<li>Salary to be negotiated based on experience;<\/li>\n<li>Competitive benefits, including generous annual leave and wellness days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Recruitment Process<\/h3>\n<h5><b><br \/>\n<\/b>Step 1 \u2014 Submitting an Application<b><\/b><\/h5>\n<p>Applications must be submitted by <b>November 20, 2026.<\/b> The application package includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Un curriculum vit\u00e6 ;<\/li>\n<li>A cover letter (maximum 1,500 words) addressing the following points:\n<ul>\n<li>Your background, your personality, and what drives you professionally;<\/li>\n<li>Your interest in the position and in Montr\u00e9al Danse\u2019s mission;<\/li>\n<li>Your perspective on the main current issues facing the contemporary dance community;<\/li>\n<li>Your vision of the role Montr\u00e9al Danse can play within this ecosystem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Optional: any other documents you consider relevant<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Montr\u00e9al Danse promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion and encourages individuals from historically underrepresented groups to apply.<\/p>\n<p>Applications should be sent to: <a href=\"mailto:administration@montrealdanse.com\">administration@montrealdanse.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Candidates selected for the first interview will be contacted no later than <b>November 24<\/b>.
