Dance against violence works to promote the well-being of women and their children who are victims of various types of violence. Through movement workshops in shelters and women’s centers, DCV helps them reclaim their bodies, regain confidence, and break out of isolation, while fostering family ties where necessary.<\/p>\n

Working with the administrative and development department of Montr\u00e9al Danse and in direct contact with the dancer-facilitators and shelters, the Dance Against Violence Coordinator will be responsible for multiple tasks related to workshop coordination, development, and fundraising.<\/p>\n

Job description<\/b><\/h4>\n
<\/h6>\n
Logistics<\/b>\/administration<\/b><\/h6>\n
    \n
  • Liaising and communicating with partner organizations (shelters and women’s centers) and dancer-facilitators;<\/li>\n
  • Producing and maintaining the workshop schedule;<\/li>\n
  • Tracking invoices;<\/li>\n
  • Monitoring the budget.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    Development\u00a0<\/b><\/h6>\n
      \n
    • Collaborating with the artistic director to define and develop the long-term vision for the project;<\/li>\n
    • Work with the dancer-facilitators to develop new workshops;<\/li>\n
    • Organize refresher training for the dancer-facilitators;<\/li>\n
    • Maintain, cultivate, and strengthen existing relationships with current partners (shelters, community centers, local organizations, etc.);<\/li>\n
    • Develop new partnerships, including:\n
        \n
      • Other community or cultural organizations;<\/li>\n
      • Academic institutions (CEGEPs, universities, research centers);<\/li>\n
      • Actors in the arts or health sectors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • Work in collaboration with Montr\u00e9al Danse’s communications coordinator to increase the visibility of the organization and its activities through an increased presence in relevant networks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Fundraising<\/b><\/p>\n

          \n
        • Philanthropic fundraising and fundraising campaigns;<\/li>\n
        • Grant research and writing.<\/li>\n
        • Desired start date: end of September.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Required qualities<\/b><\/p>\n

            \n
          • Excellent organizational skills;<\/li>\n
          • Fluent in both spoken and written French, very good knowledge of English;<\/li>\n
          • Excellent writing skills in French;<\/li>\n
          • Ability to work with a small team;<\/li>\n
          • Autonomy, strong organizational skills, initiative, and versatility;<\/li>\n
          • Good listening skills and sensitivity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Assets<\/b><\/p>\n

              \n
            • Experience\/knowledge of contemporary dance;<\/li>\n
            • A minimum of two years of experience in helping relationships and\/or in environments that support women and\/or people in vulnerable situations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Type of employment<\/b><\/p>\n

              • Desired start date between September 22 and October 13 at the latest<\/b><\/li>\n
              • Permanent position.\u00a0Part-time:<\/b>\u00a0 20 hours\/week<\/li>\n
              • Office in downtown Montreal<\/li>\n
              • Salary between $22.50 and $25 per hour + benefits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
