The year 2024\u20132025 marks a real turning point for Dance Against Violence. After several years of developing its expertise in Montreal, the organization is now rolling out its workshops in Quebec City, thanks to a partnership with La Rotonde, a contemporary dance presenter known for its commitment to cultural mediation. This new phase is part of a clear goal: to share expertise, expand access to workshops beyond Montreal, and build a transferable model that can be adapted to the realities of different regions.<\/p>\n

To support this rollout, our facilitator Rachel Harris, a dance artist, traveled to Quebec City from May 4 to 6, 2025, for an intensive three-day training session, followed by Ang\u00e9lique Amyot, Marie-Chantale B\u00e9land, and Nelly Paquentin. During this immersion, the three dancers discovered DCV methods: they explored specific facilitation postures, familiarized themselves with detailed exercises accompanied by demonstrations, exchanged their thoughts and questions, and had the opportunity to participate in a workshop led by Rachel herself.<\/p>\n

Building on this experience, they then led the first workshops at three community organizations in Quebec City: the Centre des femmes de la Basse-Ville, the Maison H\u00e9l\u00e8ne-Lacroix, and the YWCA of Quebec City. Offered free of charge, these workshops are aimed at women who have experienced situations of great vulnerability: isolation, violence, and precariousness. The warm welcome from participants and the positive response from the intervention communities confirm the relevance of our approach: a space where the body can regain its rightful place, in a gentle and safe environment.<\/p>\n
